Introduction: First lesson free!At your home or mine!Individualized to meet your specific goals!Hi, there. My name’s Jordan. I’ve been playing guitar since I was ten years old, and I've picked up a lot of other instruments along the way. I have been teaching lessons professionally for almost ten years since my days as a jazz studies student at the internationally-respected Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.I specialize in teaching students how to apply music theory in practical ways: jamming with others, writing songs, taking improvised solos. I prefer helping adult intermediate and advanced players take their abilities and musical knowledge to the next level, but I'm open to teaching motivated kids and teens. I primarily teach acoustic and electric guitar. But I can help get you started on ukulele, mandolin, electric bass, dobro, lap steel, pedal steel, fiddle, keys, among other instruments.I would love for you to meet for lessons in my home studio in East Nashville, but I can also meet for lessons at your place for an additional fee. Plus, I don't charge for a 30 minute introductory lesson, because I want to give you a chance to find out if we’re a good fit for each other.Reach out with any questions! I'm eager to hear about your prior experience with music (even if mostly just a listener), and what you'd like to take away from our lessons. Can't wait to get started! -JordanMy rates:Free! - introductory first thirty minute lesson.$40 - forty-five minute lesson.$50 - hour lesson.$10 - additional charge for lessons in your home.

Madison M. Jan 11, 2022 Jordan is a treat to work with! He's helped me so much with my guitar skills and brings a lot of great experience as a touring musician to lessons. He's a multi-instrumentalist so it's been great to get his perspective on how skills overlap between instruments. Can't recommend him enough! Deborah k. FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Every first lesson with me is free in order to give you a chance to find out if I'm the right fit for your learning style. After that, I charge $40 for 45 minutes; $50 for an hour; and an additional $10 if you prefer to have me travel to your home for lessons. I don't charge this fee for a first lesson. I prefer electronic payment, and accept most services (Venmo, PayPal, etc.) but I am also open to cash or check.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First, we'll set up a time to meet for our first free, 30-minute introductory lesson. Students are welcome to schedule lessons at my home studio in East Nashville, or have me come to them for an additional $10 fee (I waive this fee for a first lesson).I am also open to online lessons. Despite the less-than-ideal circumstances, I have been very impressed with how much progress students can make online since I began trying this model in 2020. I typically use Google Meet.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am from Michigan, and the foundations of my teaching are rooted in the expert instruction I received as a child from many role models at the Ann Arbor Music Center (Rock Band School), as well as advanced instruction as part of the award-winning Community High School jazz combo program.I completed a year studying jazz guitar at the competitive Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where I played in several university ensembles and enrolled in weekly lessons with an expert performer. I also performed in the pit band for IU Theater's production of Jesus Christ Superstar, as well as performing with the respected, nationally-traveled IU Soul Revue. I decided to complete my education with a degree in history despite being accepted into the prestigious music school. I learned much in my year in formal musical school, but I have never regretted the decision to leave :)Since, I have toured around the country for solo artists, playing big stages and renowned clubs, as well as recording and arranging.
